NOTE: This is not for everyone. If you don't like bitter things or coffee, you may not like this. If you are a coffee addict, you will love it  Use your own judgment and self-knowledge!

This is the most girly tutorial I've ever done, it feels weird.

I took the photos for this tutorial long ago, but I thought that this treat was too easy to deserve a tutorial, I also thought that everybody already knew how to make them, so I forgot about it. Today I went "OMG they're so easy and delicious!!! I love how quickly I can make them, how come I never made that tutorial??" and I also realized that they're not as common as I initially thought. So here's the tutorial!

This has a very unique taste that I really enjoy. Nothing is similar to this! Coffee lovers, believe me, this is paradise. Besides, who wants to pay 7 USD for a tiny bag?

Edit: ~Zabboud suggests using molds, what a wonderful idea! And very cute too, look!

i just tried this today :D
i didn't like just covering the beans...they still had a very overpowering taste so i added to each one drop of chocolate on top and they were just great ^^

I also did with white, milk and dark chocolate :D
they are sooooo addictive! :O it is worse than popcorn!

Anyway! thank you! :D
(i think i'm going to photograph them when they are all done :P i'll tell you when i do that)

Hey! sorry for taking so long to answer you back but university is draining my life

so here are the photos i took [link]
it was already dark outside so the photos aren't really a masterpiece...but if i waited 'till tuesday there wouldn't be as many chocolates in the photos xD

i've written a little bit more about what i thought of the outcome in the description :)

Stay well!

They are!! :la:

Well that's a good question, I've never discovered it... they always disappear long before they go stale. I'm guessing they are best eaten within a week or two, as coffee looses most of its flavor quickly. They will still be edible, but I don't think they'll taste as awesome xD

Ooh in that case I would recommend that you try using an air-tight container to keep the freshness of the coffee for as long as you can :) good luck!

This I have got to try one day. :D If you don't mind me asking, which kind of coffee bean is best for this treat? Kona, Arabica, Robusta, or something else?

Talty Featured By Owner Jul 26, 2011   Artisan Crafter
hehe it's funny, you are the first person that asks me that question...

I use a locally grown Arabica. It's bitter, but not acid, it even has a very faint sweetness to it. That's my favorite :)

I'm sorry for being so late to reply, the brand is "Punta del Cielo" (Peak of the Sky) and it's a local brand, I don't know if they sell it outside of Mexico, but here's their site: [link]

I'm curious to know how the cost of making these yourself compares to the store bought version. Though I would probably try it anyway, because making things yourself is always more rewarding. Thanks for making this tutorial.

I haven't made the maths, but the stupid store bought version is so expensive that I'm sure this is cheaper. Besides I used quality ingredients, you can't beat that!

Ok so for quick maths, a tiny bag of chocolates is $7 here, that's about 50 grams. I can buy 1000 grams of coffee for $14 and 500 grams of chocolate for $5 and make enough to kill me. So yeah, I would say it's cheaper, but that's up to how expensive the store bought version and ingredients are where you live.

I really really reaaaalllyyyyy wish I could do this~ But I can't find a place near me that sells unground coffee beans >.o I tried making ground coffee balls instead then dipping them in chocolate, but... Eww. It was horrid. e__e

I can't imagine the taste of that! I don't know why, but I find ground coffee bitterer. Besides half of the fun is bitting the hard coffee beans, it's a great jaw exercise :chew:

It was too bitter for words Dx I ended up wasting the Whitman's chocolate I bought. And it's a bit on the expensive side for chocolate here. >.o
