So... I make a lot of cakes xD but I think that's obvious. I decided not to post any cakes for a while for weird reasons that only make sense to me, but I'm going to start posting them again! so please forgive me for the next couple of weeks, I hope the cakes won't bore you I have a bit of a backlog.
This is sort of an old photo. This is the stock I had 3 months ago, I already sold or gave away most of them. I'm constantly making and selling cakes, so it was unusual for me to have this amount of cakes... so I took a photo I actually had 3 more cakes that I forgot to take out for the photo I haven't had more than a couple of cakes at a time since
These are also the first full cakes I make. I used wood as core to make them lighter, and I'm very happy with the results I'm thinking of making fridge magnets or keychains. I made two strawberry shortcakes and one Portal Cake, reproduced to the smallest detail. I'm very proud of the Portal Cake, so I'll post photos soon! (I gave it away to my dear friend =moofestgirl.)
The rest of the cakes are, clockwise from the top: A slice of the Portal Cake Strawberry Shortcake Blue fondant cake with white rose Red velvet cake with red rose (because I have a tendency to put roses in everything) Pink sparkly cake with rose buds German chocolate cake Black forest cake Strawberry shortcake Chocolate and cherries cake Another strawberry shortcake
Some of them can be found on my store: [link] and if you're interested for one of the rest, send me a note!
First of all, I want to say that these are all great cakes! I can see that you put much effort into them.
I gave 4.5 stars for vision, because it has a clear theme, it's organised and the photograph is taken from a really good angle. The only thing that I don't like is the background. The cakes would look a lot better in a white or maybe a soft, pastel-y color background. But turquoise just doesn't go there.
Now, I only gave 4 stars for the originality, because I think most of us clay users have done cakes. A polymer clay cake is that one thing that I see in every polymer clay group or maker's gallery. Although, I do like what you did with the topings!
Your technique is honestly one of the best I've seen of cakes. But, again, one thing I don't like and I even think you might agree... The portal cake's eyepin. The candle might break and it's just not the best idea to put it there. I'd even say full cakes should be either small to make charms, or just not be charms. Be sculptures, like your two full strawberry ones.
The impact, once again, wasn't as good as it would be on a white background. The cakes really do make me hungry, but still - 5 stars go for 'perfect', and I got a thing to hang on
And so, in total, for everything I'd give you 4.5, your work is beautiful, keep it up!
