Pink Strawberry Cake Dangling Earrings by Talty Pink Strawberry Cake Dangling Earrings by Talty

| Etsy | Custom Commissions | Facebook | YouTube | Polymer Clay Gallery

This was a commission for ~Picajosan, she asked me to make cake earrings like the orange cake earrings I already did, but instead of oranges she wanted dangling strawberries like the ones in my waffles and a tiny pink cake with roses like the one I submitted long ago. So it's pretty much the blending of three of my works:

I really love her idea and it turned out extremely adorable, I'm kinda ashamed I didn't think of it before XD it's brilliant! The pink frosting ended up being a tiny bit more pink than the other cake but I think it works, this darker shade matches the strawberries better. I only had room to add one rose bud, if you see the second photo and compare the cake with my fingers you'll notice that it's quite small :) ~Picajosan already received these earrings and she said she liked them, she very kindly wrote a journal about it and even took photos wearing them! HOW AWESOME IS THAT! I'm really excited about this mini review, you can see it here: [link]

Technical stuff: All handmade with polymer clay, no molds or premades or whatsoever were used. Pastel dust and acrylic paints were also used, along with some metal findings. The technique I use to make my cakes was explained in this tutorial .

Well, to start off these earrings are adorable. I love the strawberry theme that they have. Your technique is very good, as you have managed to make the pieces of cake look so realistic that people would mistake them for the real thing.

I really like the sparkles in the pink frosting, they add color to the cake slices. As for the strawberrys, they also add a pop of color to the overall piece and give viewers a better idea of what flavor the cakes slices are.
Good job to you, and keep up the good work with your other works.

I love these.....everything you do makes me want to eat it lol. The colors you chose go very well together. I think the white rose thing on the cake could be changed to.....maybe, a white edge on the cake or even just a dollup of whipped cream.....the sizes are well proportioned between the strawberries and the cake and the detail is amazing, just like all your work. I love the little yellow seeds and the grooves of the leaves, I think I would make the strawberries a little more pointed or elongated to give them a sleeker sharper look in connection with the triangular shape of the cake, but overall you did such a good job :)

These are very beautiful! How long does it take you to make each one, and do you use sandpaper to give it a crumb effect?

Hmmm it takes me a while, not sure how long since I work on steps. I made a video showing my technique for the texture or crumb effect: [link]

Have you considered mix and match earing sets?
