This was a commission for ~Picajosan, she asked me to make cake earrings like the orange cake earrings I already did, but instead of oranges she wanted dangling strawberries like the ones in my waffles and a tiny pink cake with roses like the one I submitted long ago. So it's pretty much the blending of three of my works:

I really love her idea and it turned out extremely adorable, I'm kinda ashamed I didn't think of it before XD it's brilliant! The pink frosting ended up being a tiny bit more pink than the other cake but I think it works, this darker shade matches the strawberries better. I only had room to add one rose bud, if you see the second photo and compare the cake with my fingers you'll notice that it's quite small :) ~Picajosan already received these earrings and she said she liked them, she very kindly wrote a journal about it and even took photos wearing them! HOW AWESOME IS THAT! I'm really excited about this mini review, you can see it here: [link]

Technical stuff: All handmade with polymer clay, no molds or premades or whatsoever were used. Pastel dust and acrylic paints were also used, along with some metal findings. The technique I use to make my cakes was explained in this tutorial .

I think these are very nicely done. To be honest, at first I didn't like the sparkles in the frosting. But the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. It adds a nice gooey, creamy look and texture to the frosting. It looks like it would be the type to melt in your mouth. The detail in the cake part itself amazes me. I love how realistic it looks. You do a fantastic job with all your cakes. I do find myself wishing that the white thing on top looked a little more like a flower. Doing that might be difficult though. Making it look like whip cream would probably be a lot easier. Or as another idea, since it is a strawberry theme, maybe put a slice or two of a strawberry on top the piece of cake. I think that would look just as nice. I also quite enjoy your chubby, roundish strawberries. I think the fact that you made them dangle earrings was a good choice too. The overall appearance is great. Again, very nicely done. Your work is awesome.

I love these.....everything you do makes me want to eat it lol. The colors you chose go very well together. I think the white rose thing on the cake could be changed to.....maybe, a white edge on the cake or even just a dollup of whipped cream.....the sizes are well proportioned between the strawberries and the cake and the detail is amazing, just like all your work. I love the little yellow seeds and the grooves of the leaves, I think I would make the strawberries a little more pointed or elongated to give them a sleeker sharper look in connection with the triangular shape of the cake, but overall you did such a good job :)

These are very beautiful! How long does it take you to make each one, and do you use sandpaper to give it a crumb effect?

Hmmm it takes me a while, not sure how long since I work on steps. I made a video showing my technique for the texture or crumb effect: [link]

Have you considered mix and match earing sets?

Thanks! I have a video tutorial showing how I do the texture, in case you're interested. And I use DecoArt's Triple Thick :)
