Polymer Clay Lemon Pie Earrings by Talty Polymer Clay Lemon Pie Earrings by Talty

This is part of a commission for ~Aryi1. She wanted me to make something like my orange cake earrings, but instead of oranges she wanted lemons and instead of cakes she wanted pies xD Update: She just received them and here's her comment! I'm so happy! [link]

It was fun! I love working in small scales and this is actually the first time I'm pleased with a cane I made! :la: I think I finally nailed those citric canes, I've improved a lot since my first pathetic attempts. I also worked on improving the pie's crust, specially the shape and texture. Also, you can't notice it in the photo but the edge of the pies is not straight, it's beveled like a real pie!!! :la: I'm also happy with the cherries, I wanted to replicate those bright, juicy and translucent canned cherries, and I think they're not bad :meow:

I hope that doesn't sound like I'm bragging D: but I like to list here what I did right and wrong for anyone that wants to try something similar, and for future reference for myself xD I have a really bad memory.

This was based in my orange cake earrings which were originally inspired in by ~Madizzo

If you want a pair of earrings like this with your own combination of pie/cake and fruits, let me know! I can make you pretty much anything for $17 + $4 for S&H, send me a note with your idea! I do love a good challenge.

Comments and suggestions are always much appreciated!! :blowkiss:

Materials: Sculpey III, TLS, pastels, blades, needles, metal findings.

You must use a lot of transparent Sculpey and glaze for your super realistic food. What is Sculpey III?

I do, I use a lot of translucent  I have a large stock of it.

Sculpey III is just Sculpey's full name.

Do you use translucent for everything you make?

No, not for everything, but for a lot of food items. Specially things like cakes, fruits and jelly.

The shine on them must be amazing in real life, the 1st picture makes the one pie look like it's gold and not a lemon pie

What was the ratio of yellow to translucent clay that you used to get the lovely colour of the cake?
