Polymer Clay Miniature Apple Pie Ring by Talty Polymer Clay Miniature Apple Pie Ring by Talty

This was a birthday present for my sister, since she was little she has been obsessed with pie... she asks daily if I can bake or buy her pie, when we were little she used to ask for pie in her Christmas letter to Santa, and then she would ask for pie in mine too  so for her birthday I made her an apple pie as a ring, and for the first time in a while I went by a few days without receiving a request for pie XD

When I was making the pie I remembered that *fairchildart had a wonderful apple pie tutorial and I used her ideas for the apple slices, but I made the rest more similar to how a real pie is made. I love the way the slices peek through the crust, but I think I would have liked to make the crust a bit more open to show the slices better. Next time I think I also want to try making a border to give it a neater finish. I liked it a lot and my sister liked it even more, so I'm very happy :)

Technical stuff: All handmade with polymer clay, no molds or premades were used everything was made by me. Pastel dust and glaze were used for the toasty look and shiny wet finish. The ring is adjustable and bought. Photographed on my left index finger.

How does the clay handle being worn, does it chip, should it handled very carefully? it's really cute though!

Polymer clay is very durable, you would be surprised :D I have lots of things and I'm never careful, but they resist a lot! I plan to make a video to prove it, I've been wondering if it would be too much to hit it with a hammer...
