These cakes are available in my Storenvy [link] and Etsy [link] or you can just buy them directly from me :D

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Specially to ^maytel, at least one of this slices is coming your way!

I love these cakes! Last time I made red velvet cake I received feedback telling me that the color is actually darker... so I listened :) Each slice has pure white frosting, it looks so fluffy  each slice includes a tiny red heart, the hearts have a slight color marbling, it's an adorable effect. I'm really happy with the way they turned out, and I think I got the color of red velvet cake perfectly this time  I actually decided to make a full cake this time instead of making slice per slice, it saves a bit of time but it requires more dedication to texture them all at once without going insane. But they look so adorable together, so it was worth it :D

I actually didn't try red velvet cake until a a week ago, we were hanging out with some friends when we passed by a bakery and they had red velvet cupcakes... I asked Oka to buy me one since I had never tried red velvet. I didn't think the flavor was anything special, it was kind of chocolatey, kind of sweet, and kind of meh. I don't know if that's what red velvet cakes are supposed to taste like, but I'm not impressed so far! Red velvet is not a popular flavor here in Mexico and that was actually the first bakery that I've seen selling them, so maybe they were doing them wrong. I will try to find another bakery and give it another chance.

Technical stuff: All handmade with polymer clay by me! No molds or pre-mades were used, 100% handmade one by one with love. The techniques and materials I used were explained in my polymer clay cake tutorial.

Very pretty--the cake itself is extremely realistic (my cousin has a top-secret recipe for red velvet cake, and this looks almost exactly like it). If you're trying for extreme realism, the pointed edge should be a little more crumbly, but I actually had to stare at the slices for a few minutes to see that part, so I wouldn't really worry about it.

The only thing off is the frosting, which also throws off the slices when viewed from the top. I'm not sure how hard this effect would be to accomplish, but typically I see round cakes like that frosted in a circular motion to create a swirl on top. Same for the sides, you would sweep a knife around the cake and try to have any knife tracks go around the cake rather than up and down. It really is the only thing that breaks through the illusion of this being real cake, so overall, very nice job. You've succeeded in making me want some red velvet cake ^^.

I love them! The color looks much better and the frosting looks so thick and delicious :'D
my only critique is that most of the time I see red velvet cake made with cream cheese frosting, which is not pure white usually but slightly off-white/cream color I think :3

So cute!

Have a question tho. What does actual velvet cake taste like? We don't have it...
