I've been meaning to upload this for a while now. But I'm a big procrastinator.
I painted this long ago. When I took it off the hook I was amazed by how long ago: June 20 1999, according to the date I wrote in the back. Almost 10 years! I was only 12 back then, I couldn't believe I was that young.
I painted this with oils, and it's actually my last -and favorite- oil painting. I painted several from age 6 to 12, but I quited after this one. I really love the results, but I started to experiment with other techniques and could never find the time again. I've been wanting to paint again for more than a year (I even bought the materials!), but there's always something else to do.
I painted this from a picture reference I lost long ago. I went for really bold colors and contrasts, but it's not as visually aggressive as you may think - the black balances it fairly well. It really stands out in my mother's creamy dinning room.
I didn't know what to do with the frame's shadow. I can't take the frame off and I don't want to merciless chop the picture in Photoshop. I hope it's not too bad
As always, comments and suggestions are VERY much appreciated
Thank you for looking!
