This week I received messages from two different people (through Etsy and Storenvy) offering to make a review of my work. They splattered huge statics, like having millions of instagram followers, popularity, or having done it before and making people famous. Of course, their generosity was conditioned by me agreeing to send them some of my work for free. While I don't object the concept of reviewing someone's work, I worry that this has become a popular way of scamming artisan crafters to give away their work for free with promises of exposure and increasing their sales. I wanted to write this journal to tell everyone to be careful, specially if you're just starting your business and struggling to get noticed, it may sound tempting but you should never give away your hard work!
One of them was even more blunt and said that he could write a positive review of my work just by

Crazy Crafts IV: ilkelaSometimes, someone's work is so out of the ordinary and unique that I can't help but stare at it, sit back, let it sink in, and wonder where I can get some of that inspiration. That is the case with ~ilkela's work, I think that she owns one of the most eclectic and unique galleries I've seen around, it is incredible to see someone mastering so many different crafts. Dia de los Muertos Artisan Crafts FeatureAs with the Halloween feature I made, I'm a bit late... but I still think that any time is time for good art!
Some of you already know that I'm mexican and proud, and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a very important tradition for me. While it is also celebrated  in other parts of Latin America I am only familiar with the traditions we have here, so I'm really sorry for not being able to represent everyone :heart: But feel free to leave me a comment with your own traditions, I would love to read about them :)
In case anyone is interested some years ago I published a more or less detailed explanation on ofrendas (offerings) complete with photos. Also, I shall warn you that I consider myself a purist, and while I appreciate everyone's efforts to make art inspired by Dia de los Muertos there's some things that simply don't go with the spirit of this date, and I won't include them in this feature... for exa
