Artisan Crafts Feature #2I'm finally recovered from the craziness that was Artisan Crafts week! It was insane, but so awesome at the same time. In case anyone missed it the articles we published can be found here. Also don't forget that the "Try Something New Contest" is still going on until July 29th, contest information is available here. The contest invites you to pick up a new craft you've never tried before and so something with it, the prizes include premium accounts and points :)

August Artisan Crafts DD RoundupWow how fast the time passes! I can't believe this is already my third roundup, I'm actually very happy with this month's DDs :) I think I received a lot of great suggestions for unusual crafts, and I was able to feature some of the most obscure and under-recognized crafts. Please keep the awesome suggestions coming! :la: Remember that I'm specially interested in the original, different and non-ordinary crafts ;) of course I love and consider all the suggestions, but I want to get all the crafts out there. This week I'm looking for etching, knitting, embroidery and clothing.
I want to represent all the Artisan Crafts equally, so if you think that any area is not being properly represented please let me know! I think I got a good mix this month, what do you guys think? :)
Useless fact: I tried to pick one as my "DD of the month" and I couldn't choose my favorite, I love everything so much :heart: what would you choose?

Crazy Crafts II: boxwoodsenToday we're going to do things a little bit different. I want you to open up your mind and do a little experiment with me, let's explore a different kind of aesthetics and experiencing art through emotions.
I was recently introduced to the work of ~boxwoodsen, he just finished uploading almost 1000 human heads made with clay, each head represents a different emotion, character, trait or flaw.
"I sometimes call the heads "grotesques" they are meant to symbolize cast offs from society (the non art going public). They sit in judgment  and inconvenience you."

Plagiarism in amigurumi pieces
A journal caught my attention the other day. It was about other people re-creating something a person has made and then passing it off as their own basically with no credit or even selling it.
What are your thoughts on this? How can you get around it? Obviously if you have spent hours working on a doll/etc that you have made, having someone blatantly recreater it is going to be a bit of a slap in the face.
It is hard to solve this one huh?

:la: You could do these features every day and I'd never get tired of them. Before joining dA, I had no idea what a thriving artisan crafts community there was around here. All you see outside of dA is the digital art. There are so many amazing crafters here, it's very inspiring.
