Food. Polymer clay food. There's a strange fascination between polymer clay crafters to make food, if you ask many of us won't even be able to explain what's so addictive about making fake food. Some of it is crafted for doll houses and doll props, some people make beautiful jewelry with food, but some just make it because it's so incredibly fun.

From time to time polymer clay neophytes ask me what tips I can give them to help them improve their craft. In my previous article I already wrote about what kind of clays, tools and techniques can be used, but materials can only take you so far. Although they are helpful, I've seen people creating masterpieces with nothing but homemade clay and practically no tools. After all, clay, tools and resources don't create a masterpiece, you do.

Culinary Arts is a somewhat small and forgotten gallery, specially when compared with popular galleries like traditional art. Miniatures is one of the newest subcategories in the Artisan Crafts gallery, it was introduced less than 3 months ago. It's still rather small and many people don't know about it yet, so this feature will explore it a bit

Miniatures are copies or models of things, made on a small scale.

Animals, Nature and Scenery

Miniatures of animals, plants, birds, trees, planets etc.

Dollhouses and Rooms

Furnishings made specifically for Doll houses and full rooms.

Miniature replications of existing characters from book, films etc.
Original characters are to be placed in the People category.

Fantasy

Miniatures of fantasy creations such as dragons, griffins, unicorns or anything else that doesn't exist in reality.

Food

Miniature replications of edible items such as bread, sushi, fruit, etc.

Household Items

Miniature replications of everyday objects that you would find in a house such as chairs, lights, book cases, dishes etc.

Jewelry

Miniature replications of jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces, charms
and earrings. Anything that decorates or adorns the body.

Wow! Thank you for including my crafts. I have noticed an increase in miniatures and dollhouse scale dioramas in recent months. Hopefully miniatures can be as big as needlework artisan crafts! Your article really provides great inspiration. I have particularly been a fan of ~Treasured-by-u for a long time.
