May I ask you some questions Talty?

If I wanted to make a witches tower (for example), is it OK to do that as long as I credit where I got the idea, if I post a picture of it on dA? I'm not sure about intellectual copyright etc if you create something that someone else thought of?

And how many coats of glaze should I give any item? I have no idea of the answer! I've just glazed my first little cake slices - one coat - and am not sure if I should have glazed the textured actual cake parts of it or not?

Thank you so much if you have the time to answer me. I have not seen answers to these elsewhere :iconcuteheartz:

Intellectual copyright protects against identical imitations of your work, but you can get inspired by someone else. It's fine to make a witch tower as long as you don't copy it exactly, make the design your own and add something special to it! Giving credit is usually encouraged, people that steal ideas without credit (against getting inspired and giving credit) are usually shun upon and are not considered artists, but thieves.

The number of coats actually depends don the glaze you are using, some glazes are pretty thick (like DecoArt's triple thick) and one coat is usually enough, but some others require two or three coats. It also depends on how shiny you want your piece to be. I don't glaze the "bread" part of the cake, but that's just a personal preference... I just glaze them if I want the cake to look moist. Usually I just glaze the fruits :)

I hope that answers your questions! If not let me know :)

That's brilliant Talty and answers my questions very well. Thank you so very much for taking the time to explain so clearly :iconfreehugsplz:

I'm making a little charm bracelet with the cake slices so will keep this one for me and be wiser in future for ones that will be for gifts. I'm using all Sculpey products at the moment, though I can only find one place in the whole of Australia that has the TLC :faint: However I've read a review that says the Fimo deko gel is much better and more transparent. I can only get that by mail order too, it's crazy! But at least I can get it LOL

And I will think up a May version of the witch tower because I love that too! :iconminniethanksplz:
